Kazakhstan remains the largest market with a share of 48.7 per cent, followed by Uzbekistan with 35 per cent. Turkmenistan accounts for 7 per cent, and Tajikistan for 3.7 per cent. The market grew fastest in Uzbekistan: the number of air passengers tripled compared with 2019, reaching 11.1 million.
The growth in air travel is linked to the region’s economic growth, population increase and rising incomes. Between 2000 and 2025, the combined GDP of the five Central Asian countries rose from $46 billion to $567 billion, whilst the population grew from 55 million to 83 million people.
