Discussions held in Bishkek on the construction of a metro and tram network: France is ready to assist with funding

In Bishkek, the possibility of constructing a metro, tram lines and a rapid bus transit system is being considered. The French side is ready to provide financial support for the preparation of a feasibility study for these projects.

The matter was discussed on 9 October by the First Deputy Mayor of Bishkek, Kubanychbek Imanaliev, the French Ambassador, Nicolas Fay, representatives of the city council and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The next step could be the development of a roadmap and a feasibility study, which will enable an assessment of the cost, technical feasibility and resources required to implement the projects.

At this stage, the focus is on exploring the possibilities rather than on a decision to commence construction.
