During the talks, the parties considered several issues of international cooperation of mutual interest and discussed promising areas of cooperation, especially in the context of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Special attention was paid to the contribution of the Eurasian Economic Union countries to this activity.
“Each EAEU state takes concrete steps to achieve the SDGs, relying on national program documents, strategies and concepts. At the same time, economic integration within the association is an additional factor contributing to the SDGs' achievement,” the head of the EEC Collegium noted.
He also said that the Commission had begun preparing a comprehensive report on SDGs, which would assess the Union's integration agenda in the context of achieving the Goals. The report is planned to be presented at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in July 2025.
As a result of the negotiations, it was decided to maintain working contacts and strengthen practical cooperation.
ECOSOC is one of the main UN bodies coordinating cooperation in the economic and social fields between the UN and its specialized agencies.
