05/23/2025, 15:10The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has prepared a draft resolution that would allow commercial banks to establish or acquire subsidiaries engaged not only in financial activities but also in telecommunications.
The draft has been published on the Koomduk Talkoo website. It also proposes increasing the limit on banks' investments in non-banking organisations from 15% to 20% of their own capital.
This will give banks more opportunities to develop their business, create new products and introduce technologies, including in partnership with telecommunications operators. At the same time, the National Bank will retain control: large investments will still require its approval, and telecommunications companies will be subject to special requirements for risk management and transparency.
