The free replacement of driver's licenses cost the budget approximately 350 million KGS

The free driver’s license replacement program, which began in Kyrgyzstan in January 2026, cost the budget approximately 350 million KGS. Boobek Salimzhanov, First Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, announced this at a press conference on March 31.

According to him, the campaign began on January 15, 2026, and applied to citizens whose licenses indicated only the date of issuance without an expiration date.

Today, March 31, the campaign has ended. The president signed the corresponding decree. However, the document can still be replaced until the end of this year. The procedure will cost 1,889 KGS. The replacement process remains simplified; specifically, a medical certificate is not required.

From the start of the campaign until its conclusion, 378,000 driver’s licenses were replaced across the country.
