01/31/2025, 14:30On 31 January, MP Aibek Altynbekov reported at a meeting of the parliamentary faction ‘Mekenchil’ that the market value of housing in Bishkek has reached $3,000 per square metre. This is the highest in Central Asia, making the Kyrgyz capital one of the most expensive cities in the region.
The head of the State Construction Committee, Nurdan Oruntayev, commenting on the MP's statement, said that there are already objects on the market where the cost per square metre reaches $4,000.
$4 thousand.
‘Even from the excavation now sell flats for $1.2 thousand - $1.3 thousand . The house is not actually built yet, but prices are already high,’ he said.
Altynbekov expressed fear that after Oruntayev's statement about the $4,000 per square metre price, prices for land plots in Bishkek could rise sharply. The MP stressed that such a situation requires immediate intervention to stabilise the real estate market.
In response, Nurdan Oruntaev spoke about the plans of the State Construction Committee to curb price increases. Renovation was one of the proposed solutions.
‘In the case of renovation, the problem could be solved. Prices for land plots would not be so high. Now there is practically no vacant land. If before there were many adverts for the sale of plots, now it's the opposite - everyone wants to buy land,’ he explained.
