Over 54 kilograms of rare endika were seized from a resident of Naryn

In Naryn, a local resident was found to be drying the roots of endika – a rare plant for which there is a moratorium on harvesting in Kyrgyzstan – in the courtyard of his home. The total weight of the seized raw material amounted to over 54 kilograms.

The violation was uncovered by inspectors from the Naryn Regional Directorate of the Environmental Supervision Service, in conjunction with staff from the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) in the Naryn region. During the inspection, it was found that the man was storing 54 kilograms and 650 grams of dried endika roots.

The illegally harvested plant material was fully confiscated. The offender was fined 10,000 KGS in accordance with the Code of Offences.

The issue of endika conservation remains relevant, as the plant is one of Kyrgyzstan’s rare and valuable natural resources. Its roots are widely used in folk and traditional medicine.

The authorities remind the public that there is a moratorium on the collection of endika, and that its illegal harvesting and gathering are punishable offences. In addition to its medicinal properties, the plant plays an important role in maintaining the ecological balance of mountain ecosystems and preventing soil erosion.
