The main purpose of the event was to showcase and promote one of Kyrgyzstan’s most promising meat sheep breeds. The “Aarashan” breed, officially registered in 2021, is known for its high meat productivity, fast growth rate, and large body weight. Today, the national flock has reached around 48,000 heads.
During the exhibition, the Ministry awarded leading farmers who have contributed to the development of the breed. Participants also discussed issues related to breeding, expanding export opportunities, and the development of pedigree livestock farming. It was also noted that conditions for obtaining pedigree farm status in the country have been simplified.
A key focus of the event was strengthening the scientific foundation of the sector. A genome evaluation laboratory is being built at the Kyrgyz Research Institute of Livestock and Pasture, with a budget of $7.5 million and a planned launch in 2027.
According to market participants, “Aarashan” is gradually becoming a recognizable agricultural brand of Kyrgyzstan and has the potential to enter international markets as a competitive meat sheep breed.
