07/24/2026, 16:58Between January and May 2026, Kyrgyzstan imported 127.7 tonnes of felt. Compared with the same period last year, the volume of imports increased more than sixfold.
According to statistics from the National Statistics Committee, 127.7 tonnes of felt were imported into Kyrgyzstan over the first five months of 2026, worth 19.7 million KGS ($225,000). A year earlier, imports totalled 20.7 tonnes, worth 3.3 million KGS ($37,800).
Thus, the volume of imports increased 6.2-fold, whilst the value of imports rose approximately six-fold.
China remains the main supplier of felt. A total of 116.9 tonnes were imported from China, accounting for around 92 per cent of the total volume of imports. The value of Chinese products amounted to 18.1 million KGS.
Apart from China, felt was supplied to Kyrgyzstan by Turkey (9.2 tonnes), Kazakhstan (1.3 tonnes) and Russia (0.3 tonnes).
China maintains a dominant position in the Kyrgyz felt market, accounting for the majority of imports.
During the same period in 2025, Kyrgyzstan imported 20.7 tonnes of felt and felt fabric, with China again being the largest supplier.
