More than 10 million KGS and unaccounted ammunition. Interior Ministry security officers detained

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported the discovery and suppression of a persistent corruption scheme in the Interior Ministry's Security Service operating in Bishkek. According to the investigation, the heads of the Pervomaisky District Security Department had been systematically extorting money from their subordinates for many years. This was in the form of a so-called ‘fee’ for permission to officially work part-time at commercial security facilities.

On 27 August, the deputy head of the security department, Lieutenant Colonel ‘A.B.G.,’ was caught red-handed receiving 110,000 KGS. The investigation also established the involvement of the head of the unit, Colonel O.S.S. During a search of his office, $46,000, almost 5.9 million KGS and unaccounted-for ammunition were found.

In addition, senior inspector Captain Ch.B.K. and platoon commander Senior Lieutenant M.E.T. were detained. All those involved in the case were placed in the GKNB detention centre in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The investigation is ongoing.
