04/07/2026, 17:40The Ministry of Natural Resources has stepped up its crackdown on illegal fishing nets in the Issyk-Kul region — raids have yielded over 3 million som in fines and claims.
In 2025, 99 raids were carried out, 63 fines totalling 335,500 som were imposed, and 123 claims totalling 3,038,162 som were filed. Over 30 km of synthetic nets, including old and abandoned ones that harm the ecosystem, were seized. Entrepreneurs were issued 950 warnings regarding compliance with environmental standards.
The work is being carried out in accordance with laws and presidential decrees aimed at preserving Lake Issyk-Kul and its aquatic biological resources.
A total of 1,267 recreational facilities, health resorts, leisure areas, tourist resorts, and forest park areas requiring environmental inspection have been identified in the region.
