Brazil has become one of the main suppliers of sugar to Kyrgyzstan

Between January and May 2026, Kyrgyzstan imported 47.1 thousand tonnes of sugar worth $25.4 million. Compared with the same period last year, the volume of imports increased 4.6-fold.

According to the National Statistics Committee, 10.2 thousand tonnes of sugar worth 641.5 million KGS were imported into the country in January–May 2025. Thus, imports rose by 362.2 per cent in volume terms and by 246.3 per cent in value terms.

Russia became the largest supplier of sugar to Kyrgyzstan in 2026, supplying 16.5 thousand tonnes worth 981.4 million KGS. Significant volumes also came from Brazil – 17.9 thousand tonnes worth 584.1 million KGS – and Azerbaijan – 6.7 thousand tonnes worth 303 million KGS.
