The number of registered unemployed in Kyrgyzstan fell by 16.3%

As at 1 September 2026, 59,800 unemployed citizens seeking work were registered with Kyrgyzstan’s public employment services. Over the course of the year, this figure fell by 5.9 per cent.

At the same time, there were 37,000 registered unemployed people. This is 16.3 per cent fewer than on the same date in 2025.

The highest number of registered unemployed people was in the Osh Region – 10,877 people – and the Jalal-Abad Region – 8,992 people.

In the Batken region, 4,197 people were registered as unemployed; in the city of Osh, 3,456; and in Bishkek, 2,629.

In the Talas Region, 2,117 people were registered as unemployed; in the Issyk-Kul Region – 2,069; in the Chui Region – 1,470; and in the Naryn Region – 1,173 people.

In most regions, the number of registered unemployed fell over the course of the year. The most significant decreases were recorded in the Batken Region (down 38.3 per cent), the Naryn Region (down 21.3 per cent) and Bishkek (down 21.6 per cent).

However, in the city of Osh, the number of registered unemployed actually increased by 11.3 per cent over the year. In the Issyk-Kul region, the figure remained virtually unchanged, with a decrease of just 0.4 per cent.
