Remittances to Kyrgyzstan have fallen by 10.2% since the start of the year

The volume of remittances to Kyrgyzstan in January–April 2026 fell by 10.2% compared with the same period last year. Analysts at the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) believe the main reason for this was a 14% year-on-year decline in remittances from Russia.

Despite the decline in remittances, Kyrgyzstan’s economy continues to grow at a rapid pace. Analysts forecast that pay rises for public sector workers will help offset the weak trend in remittance inflows and support domestic demand.

According to analysts’ forecasts, Kyrgyzstan’s gross domestic product will grow by 10.2% in 2026.

Remittances from migrant workers have traditionally been one of the key sources of income for many Kyrgyz families and have a significant impact on consumer activity in the country. Therefore, trends in remittance inflows remain an important indicator of the state of the economy.
