The period of stay without registration in Kyrgyzstan has been reduced to 30 days for nationals of a number of countries

Kyrgyzstan has approved new procedures for the registration of foreign nationals and stateless persons. For nationals of a number of countries, the period of stay in the country without registration has been reduced from 60 to 30 days. This was announced by the state agency ‘Kyzmat’.

The change applies, in particular, to nationals of Australia, Austria, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, the USA, Finland, France, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan, as well as a number of other countries.

Under the new procedure, registration of foreign nationals takes place upon entry into Kyrgyzstan and no later than the last day of the permitted period of stay without registration.

New requirements have also been introduced regarding the address of residence and supporting documents. Registration takes place at the actual address of residence; if the host is not the owner of the property, a notarised consent form from the owner or a power of attorney will be required.

For residential houses and flats, a minimum floor space requirement of 12 square metres per person applies, with the exception of close relatives.

Separate rules apply to citizens of EAEU countries, foreign students, migrant workers and minors. Furthermore, from 23 September 2026, a rule allowing visa-free stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period will come into force for citizens of Moldova.

Upon leaving Kyrgyzstan for 30 calendar days or more, the current registration automatically becomes invalid. Upon re-entry, registration must be completed anew.
