Budget revenue from gambling activities rose by nearly 47% in early 2026

In January–February 2026, Kyrgyzstan’s budget received 90.4 million KGS in taxes from gambling activities. This is 46.8% more than in the same period of 2025, when revenues totaled 61.6 million KGS.

Casinos traditionally made the largest contribution—85.2 million KGS compared to 58.8 million a year earlier. Thus, this segment accounted for the lion’s share of revenue growth.

Revenues from slot machines and computer simulators increased more than fivefold—to 3.6 million KGS compared to 675,000 KGS in January–February 2025.

At the same time, revenues from bookmakers and totalizators halved—from 2 million to 1 million KGS.

The online casino and virtual gaming segment, despite its relatively small share, also showed growth—reaching 669,800 KGS compared to 134,500 a year earlier (nearly fivefold).

As a reminder, gambling was legalized in Kyrgyzstan in June 2022 following a ten-year moratorium. The government had high hopes for this move, expecting casinos to generate between 3 and 6 billion KGS annually for the budget. However, current revenues remain below the stated expectations.
