A $2,000 surcharge has not helped from violations, a new head will be appointed in “Unaa”

President Sadyr Zhaparov in an interview with the Kabar Agency commented on the detention of employees of the “Unaa” state agency, suspected of selling driving licenses, and spoke about measures to strengthen control in this area. Among other things, the head of state has tasked the agency to open driving schools in 40 districts of the country.

Zhaparov also said that earlier he provided material support to the head of “Unaa” Rustam Zhokoyev for $2,000 from his sponsorship fund. This was done to ensure the honest work of the head and prevent corruption schemes. According to the president, his fund is not linked to the state budget and he provides similar support to about 40 other executives to avoid corruption.

However, Zhokoev and his subordinates were detained for creating a corruption scheme in which driver's licenses were sold for amounts ranging from 40,000 to 80,000 KGS. The President expressed disappointment with the situation, noting that selling driver's licenses is unacceptable and leads to the accident increase on the roads.

“If driver's licenses continue to be sold, the number of accidents and victims will only grow,” Zhaparov emphasized.

According to the president, a new director will be appointed to the Unaa State Institution, who will be put strict work requirements.
