09/03/2025, 12:41The mayor of Jalal-Abad, Ernisbek Ormokeyev, proposed renaming the city to Manas. Deputies of the city council supported this proposal.
Now the draft law on renaming must go through all the necessary procedures. The plenipotentiary representative of the Jalal-Abad region will draft the document and submit it to the Jogorku Kenesh for consideration. A public discussion is also planned as part of the procedure.
After consideration by parliament, the draft will be sent to the president for signature. If approved, the law will come into force.
No information has yet been released about the possible costs associated with renaming the city.
