Jalal-Abad has officially received the status of a tourist centre of the Organisation of Turkic States, which previously belonged to the city of Turkestan. The ceremony of handing over the symbolic keys confirming the new status was held in Turkestan. This is reported by the Foundation for Support of Tourism Development in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The event was attended by First Deputy Mayor of Jalal-Abad city Kubanychbek Imanaliev, Head of the Green Economy and Tourism Sector of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce Alibek Matiev, as well as the Akim of Turkestan city Azimbek Pazylbekuly.

Within the framework of the ceremony, the parties discussed possibilities of strengthening friendly and partnership relations between the cities of Turkestan and Jalal-Abad.
Assignment of a new status to Jalal-Abad emphasises its importance in the development of tourism within the OTG and opens new prospects for the promotion of the region.
