Participants discussed 41 issues relating to trade policy, industry, energy and technical regulation.
One of the issues discussed was the possible conclusion of a free trade agreement between the EAEU and Pakistan. The EEC Council approved the findings of a feasibility study on such an agreement.
It is expected that the agreement could improve market access for goods from EAEU countries to the Pakistani market. This concerns agricultural produce, as well as goods from the metallurgical, coal, pulp and paper, and chemical industries. In turn, Pakistan will be able to expand its exports of fruit, vegetables, foodstuffs and certain industrial goods to the Union’s member states.
The Council also approved a draft procedure for reviewing EAEU digital projects. It provides for a mechanism for the selection and implementation of digital initiatives, including in the fields of artificial intelligence and information technology, using the Union’s common information system.
Furthermore, the meeting participants endorsed the main directions of the EAEU’s international activities for 2027 and approved special rules for determining the origin of goods exported from the Union’s customs territory. The latter document is aimed at strengthening control over the origin of products and protecting the interests of producers in EAEU countries.
Following the meeting, the relevant decisions were taken on the issues discussed.
