The EEC will create a group to study the benefits of free trade with Tunisia

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission adopted an order on the formation of a joint research group to study the feasibility of concluding a free trade agreement with Tunisia.

On the part of the Eurasian Economic Union, the composition of the group will be formed from candidates proposed by the EAEU countries, as well as representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

“Preliminary analysis shows that the potential transition to a preferential trade regime may allow the Eurasian Economic Union to increase supplies of grain, oilseeds, finished food products, metals, timber products and petrochemicals to the Tunisian market. At the same time, it will allow the partner to increase exports of fresh fruits, nuts and certain categories of industrial goods,” said EEC Trade Minister Andrei Slepnev.

Recall that on November 28 last year, Andrei Slepnev met with the Minister of Trade and Export Development of Tunisia Samir Abid. As a result, the parties agreed to initiate the process of forming a joint research group to study the feasibility of concluding a free trade agreement between the EAEU and Tunisia.
