11/25/2024, 08:12In 2025, the EEC will monitor the implementation of the provisions of the EAEU Treaty in terms of natural monopolies / This decision was taken at the 29th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Natural Monopolies, held on November 22 under the chairmanship of EEC Minister for Energy and Infrastructure Arzybek Kozhoshev.
The meeting participants approved the general format and algorithm of joint actions to conduct monitoring using quantitative and qualitative indicators. They are used to assess compliance with the principles guiding the EAEU countries in regulating the activities of natural monopolies in accordance with the EAEU Treaty.
It is planned that the results of the analysis can be used not only to develop proposals and recommendations for further harmonization in the areas of regulation of natural monopolies, but also for possible updating of the regulatory acts of the “five” countries.
The Advisory Committee approved the structure of the analytical report on natural monopolies. The document is planned to be submitted to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in the first half of 2025.
The parties also discussed further work to harmonize the legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union countries in the field of natural monopolies. It is possible that the EAEU Treaty may be amended to clarify them.
