Real wages in Kyrgyzstan are growing faster than in many EAEU countries

In the first quarter of 2025, all countries participating in the Eurasian Economic Union saw growth in both nominal and real wages. According to EEC statistics, Kyrgyzstan ranked second in terms of real wage growth, behind only Belarus.

Real wages in Kyrgyzstan rose by 10.7% in January–March compared to the same period last year. Nominal wages for the same period increased by 18.3% to 40,264 soms ($462 at the average exchange rate).

For comparison, in Belarus, real wages rose by 12.1%, while nominal wages rose by 18.4%, reaching about $754. In Russia, real wages increased by 3.4% ($992), in Armenia by 3.1% ($756), and in Kazakhstan by only 1.2% ($829).

Thus, in terms of real income growth, Kyrgyzstan is strengthening its position in the region, as real wage growth means that incomes are rising faster than prices for goods and services.
