Exports of rubber footwear from Kyrgyzstan have plummeted by almost 40 times — shipments to Russia have dried up

Exports of footwear with rubber soles and uppers from Kyrgyzstan fell sharply in January–February 2026, whilst the average price remained virtually unchanged, despite the collapse in volumes and the loss of a key market.

In the first two months of 2026, Kyrgyzstan exported 23,020 pairs of shoes worth $99,400. A year earlier, volumes were significantly higher — 862,828 pairs worth $3.7 million.

The average export price remained virtually unchanged: around $4.3 per pair in 2026 compared to $4.29 per pair a year earlier. The increase was less than 1%.

The main change was in the market structure. In 2025, the main buyer was Russia, to which over 851,000 pairs worth $3.68 million were supplied. In 2026, supplies to that market ceased entirely.

Against this backdrop, shipments to Kazakhstan increased – 21,660 pairs worth $62,200, compared to 11,100 pairs and $15,700 the previous year. The average price rose from $1.41 to $2.87 per pair, more than doubling.

Deliveries to Belarus were also recorded for the first time – 1,360 pairs worth $37,200, whereas there had been no exports there the previous year.
