Pharmaceuticals – a new driving force for the Kyrgyz economy

Kyrgyzstan's industrial sector is showing steady growth, with pharmaceutical manufacturing at the forefront of this movement. According to data for January–May 2025, the volume of pharmaceuticals produced increased 1.7 times compared to the same period last year. According to the National Statistics Committee, this is the highest growth rate among all industries.

Against the backdrop of a 12.3% increase in the country's GDP, pharmaceuticals became one of the main drivers. Its rapid development indicates growing domestic processing, investment in capacity, and, probably, increased demand both domestically and abroad.

In addition to pharmaceuticals, the leaders in growth include food and tobacco products (1.6 times), wood processing and printing (+45.2%), rubber, plastic, and construction materials (+34.4%),

petroleum product processing (+25.4%), and mining (+6.5%).

The industrial breakthrough is complemented by growth in construction (+48.3%) and trade (+10.8%), indicating an economic revival at all levels, from manufacturing to final consumption.
