Farmers in Kyrgyzstan to be granted loans at 3 per cent to develop pedigree livestock farming

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a preferential financing programme aimed at developing pedigree livestock farming in the country.

Under the new programme, farmers and organisations operating in the field of pedigree livestock breeding will be able to obtain loans at an annual interest rate of 3 per cent.

Preferential financing will be available to:

• pedigree livestock farms;
• importers of pedigree livestock;
• artificial insemination specialists;
• farms and sole traders engaged in the breeding of pedigree cattle, yaks, horses, sheep and goats.

The loan term will be up to 60 months, with a grace period of up to 12 months. The maximum amount of funding per borrower is up to 20 million KGS.

Preferential loans can be obtained through OJSC ‘ABank’ and OJSC ‘Eldik Bank’.

The Cabinet of Ministers notes that the implementation of the programme will enable farmers to develop pedigree livestock breeding, increase the herd size of high-yielding livestock and improve the quality of domestic livestock products.
