Electricity tariffs for farmers will not be increased until 2030, but on one condition

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a preferential electricity tariff for farmers using water-saving technologies. The relevant amendments have been made to the resolution ‘On the Approval of the Medium-Term Electricity Tariff Policy for 2025–2030’.

According to the update, a new clause has been added to the tariff policy providing for a special regime for agricultural producers using water-saving technologies. This refers to farms using drip and sprinkler irrigation as part of state water-saving programmes.

For such entities, electricity will be supplied at the tariff set from 1 May 2025, with no further increases until 1 May 2030.

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic has been tasked with drawing up a list of farms eligible for the preferential tariff.

The decision was adopted with the aim of encouraging the rational use of water resources and supporting farmers who are introducing modern irrigation technologies. The document comes into force 10 days after its official publication.
