The Guarantee Fund to launch a $59 million green guarantee scheme

OJSC ‘Guarantee Fund’ is to receive $59 million to launch a green guarantee scheme. A corresponding Subsidiary Agreement was signed on 11 June between the Guarantee Fund and the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan.

The funding is provided under the World Bank project ‘Development of a Sustainable Financial Market for MSMEs in the Kyrgyz Republic’. The document was signed by Malik-Aidar Abakirov, Chairman of the Board of OJSC ‘GF’, and Umutjan Amanbaev, Deputy Minister of Finance and Director of the Central Treasury.

The funds will be used to expand entrepreneurs’ access to financing for projects in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, production modernisation and the introduction of sustainable agricultural practices. The Guarantee Fund noted that the new mechanism will enable businesses to implement environmental projects more actively and will serve as one of the tools for developing the green finance market in Kyrgyzstan.
