Mountain resort and 5-star complex – large-scale resort development underway in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan has officially announced the timeline for the major tourism project ‘Chatkal Resort’, and has also announced the imminent start of construction on the ‘Choktal Resort’ complex on Lake Issyk-Kul.

At a meeting in Bishkek, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev announced the start of a large-scale development of tourism infrastructure, including the long-term construction of a mountain resort and preparations for the launch of a new international complex.

The authorities have approved the implementation of the ‘Chatkal Resort’ project in the Chatkal District of the Jalal-Abad Region and announced the imminent start of construction of ‘Choktal Resort’ on the shores of Issyk-Kul. The meeting took place on 28 April 2026.

‘Chatkal Resort’ will be built over the long term — from 2026 to 2034. ‘Choktal Resort’ is scheduled to be launched in the near future, with a project duration of approximately three years.

The Government of Kyrgyzstan, private investors and international property developers. The projects are aimed at developing tourism, creating jobs, boosting regional economic growth and improving transport links with Uzbekistan.
