Kyrgyzstan to waive duties on LED modules until 2028 — but lamps could become up to 5% more expensive

EAEU member states, including Kyrgyzstan, will exempt imports of LED modules from duties until 2028 — whilst at the same time, an increase in duties on finished lamps is under discussion.

The decision was taken by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The exemption applies to certain types of LED modules used in lamp manufacturing. A limit of up to 23 million units has been set for Kyrgyzstan. The measure will remain in force until 30 June 2028.

The aim is to support manufacturers, reduce production costs and promote import substitution within the EAEU. The exemption will be granted subject to the provision of a supporting document confirming the intended use of the goods.

At the same time, an increase in duties on finished LED lamps is being considered – from 0% to 5% of the customs value.

Earlier, Akchabar reported that Kyrgyzstan plans to relaunch its industrial base — specifically, the creation of an industrial park based on the Mailuu-Sui Electric Lamp Factory, which could become one of the sites for developing such production.
