The State Development Bank of Kyrgyzstan Will Receive $55 Million from the World Bank for Green Business Financing

The State Development Bank of Kyrgyzstan will secure a budget loan in the amount of $55 million (in KGS equivalent) to finance micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

According to the issuer’s disclosure, on June 11, the bank entered into a subsidiary loan agreement with the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic to provide funds from the World Bank project “Development of a Sustainable Financial Market for Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Kyrgyz Republic.”

The funds will be used to implement the “Wholesale Co-financing of Participating Financial Institutions” subcomponent under the “Green and Sustainable Finance” track. Thus, the State Development Bank will act as the program’s wholesale operator, providing resources to participating financial institutions, which will then be able to extend loans to enterprises for projects in the areas of sustainable development and the green economy.

The transaction is classified as a major transaction—its size exceeds 10% of the bank’s assets as of the date the agreement was signed.

The Ministry of Finance is a party to the transaction, as it is the sole shareholder of the State Development Bank.
