08/15/2026, 10:00By the end of 2025, state-owned and collective farms had become the largest producers of eggs in Kyrgyzstan for the first time. Their share of total production reached 51.6 per cent, compared with 44.3 per cent a year earlier and 23.1 per cent in 2021.
At the same time, the role of smallholder (farmer) holdings in egg production continued to decline. Whilst they accounted for 38.4 per cent of the total volume in 2021, this figure had fallen to 26.2 per cent by 2025. The share of private household plots over the same period fell from 38.5 per cent to 22.2 per cent.
In meat production, peasant (farmer) holdings retain their leading position, accounting for 50.1 per cent of the total volume in 2025. Private subsistence farms accounted for 45.4 per cent, whilst state and collective farms accounted for 4.5 per cent.
Smallholdings remain the main producers of raw milk, accounting for 50.5 per cent of the total last year. Peasant (farmer) holdings accounted for 48.9 per cent, whilst state and collective farms accounted for 0.6 per cent.
Peasant (farmer) holdings also lead the way in wool production, with a share of 57.6 per cent. Private smallholdings accounted for 41.1 per cent, whilst state and collective farms accounted for 1.3 per cent of total production.
