03/21/2026, 10:18Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev, participated in the international forum Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, where he identified the main challenge for countries increasing their share of renewable energy sources: insufficient flexibility of energy systems.
Speaking at the ministerial session, Ibraev stated that the growth of renewable energy requires not only the commissioning of new capacity but also the parallel development of balancing infrastructure. This includes energy storage systems, grid modernization, and the implementation of mechanisms that allow for a rapid response to fluctuations in generation.
According to him, without these elements, increasing the share of renewable energy poses risks to the stability of the power supply. In particular, the likelihood of shortages during periods of peak demand or reduced generation increases.
The minister paid special attention to regional energy integration. He noted that cooperation between countries helps smooth out imbalances and use available resources more efficiently.
The forum in India brings together representatives of governments, business, and international organizations and is considered one of the key platforms for discussing the global energy agenda. Kyrgyzstan’s participation in the event reflects the country’s interest in attracting investment and developing technological cooperation in the energy sector.
