Foreign airlines have been required to make announcements in Kyrgyz

All airlines operating flights to Kyrgyzstan will now be required to provide information to passengers not only in English, Russian and other languages, but also in the official language – Kyrgyz.

This requirement is being introduced by the State Agency for Civil Aviation.

Until now, on international flights, passenger information was generally announced in English, Russian and the language of the country of departure. The use of Kyrgyz will now be mandatory on all scheduled flights to, from and within Kyrgyzstan, including those operated by foreign airlines.

The new rules stipulate that all key on-board announcements must be made in Kyrgyz. This includes, in particular, safety instructions, emergency procedures, take-off and landing announcements, as well as other information required by passengers during the flight.

Furthermore, the content of announcements in Kyrgyz must fully correspond to the information provided in other languages.

“This new measure is being implemented as part of the state language policy and is aimed at strengthening the status of the state language, ensuring equal access for passengers to important information, and improving the quality of service in civil aviation,” the State Agency for Civil Aviation notes.

To comply with the new requirements, the heads of all airlines have been instructed to prepare official texts of announcements in Kyrgyz and to ensure their use on all flights covered by the new rules.
