Outcomes of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Meeting

At the summit in Minsk, the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union countries approved a number of key decisions aimed at strengthening integration and expanding international cooperation. The agenda focused on improving EAEU legislation, trade liberalisation and the development of common markets. One of the main outcomes was the signing of two new agreements: an economic partnership agreement with the United Arab Emirates and a temporary trade agreement with Mongolia.

During the meeting, participants discussed the implementation of the Strategy for Eurasian Integration Development until 2025. According to the leaders of the countries, the work done is already having an effect: the Union is more active on the international stage, and integration within the Union is accelerating. The adopted IV Grand Protocol amends the EAEU Treaty and eliminates legal gaps in the areas of technical regulation, electricity, competition and finance.

Particular attention was paid to the development of digital mechanisms for interaction, including product labelling, which is gradually covering more and more product categories. The results of the regulation of natural monopolies and the fulfilment of commitments on the liberalisation of services were also reviewed. The results for 2023–2024 in these sectors were recognised as generally positive but requiring further refinement.

The Council approved a report on sports cooperation in the economic context and identified priority areas in this field. The next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held in December in St. Petersburg. It is expected to serve as a platform for summarising the results of the five-year integration strategy and developing a new agenda for the period up to 2030.
