The Bishkek Mayor's Office reported on the progress of construction of the solid waste utilization plant

In Kyrgyzstan, construction of an eco-technological plant for utilization of municipal solid waste (MSW) aimed at generating electricity continues. At the moment, organizational activities on the part of the investor have been completed, including the installation and construction of container blocks to create working and living conditions for the project team.

On the territory of the landfill site, work is underway to pour the foundation of the future plant. Workers and engineers from China are currently being recruited to carry out construction and engineering works. Equipment and components for the waste management plant are also gradually starting to arrive.

More than 180 workers are involved in the construction.

The plant project was approved in March 2024 when the Investment Agreement between the Cabinet and Junxin Huanbao KJI Invest was signed. The plant, which is planned to be built on the territory of the sanitary landfill, will dispose of 1 thousand tons of waste per day while generating electricity.

The total investment in the project is about $95 million. The construction of the plant is planned to be completed by December 2025. In the future, with the increase of the plant's capacity, it is expected to increase the volume of processed waste up to 3 thousand tons per day.
