Every second car in Kyrgyzstan is a sedan, and every seventh is right-hand drive.

According to the State Agency for Vehicle Registration, as of 1 July 2025, there were 183,936 right-hand drive vehicles registered in Kyrgyzstan. This is approximately 13.7% of the total number of registered vehicles in the country, which is 1.34 million.

The highest share of right-hand drive vehicles is observed in minivans (67.8%), hatchbacks (16.35%) and station wagons (12.02%). Thus, there are more than 68,800 right-hand drive minivans, more than 42,200 hatchbacks, and 39,900 station wagons in the country.

Most of the cars on the road are over 15 years old. They account for almost 82% or 1,095,966 units. However, cars less than 5 years old account for only 2.6% or just over 35,000 cars nationwide.

It is interesting to note that there are two cars registered in the country with the steering wheel located in the centre.

One of them is a passenger coupe, and the other is a hatchback. Such models are extremely rare and, as a rule, are custom-made.

Thus, despite the fact that the import of right-hand drive cars has been banned in Kyrgyzstan since 2015, such vehicles continue to be actively used in the country.
