Every second KGS in the Kyrgyz economy is earned by small and medium-sized businesses

Small and medium-sized businesses are having an increasingly significant impact on the country's economy. According to data from the National Statistics Committee, in the first six months of 2025, almost half of Kyrgyzstan's GDP — 47.3% — was generated by entrepreneurs working in this sector. A year ago, their share was significantly lower — 39.8%.

In six months, businesses produced goods and services worth 335.5 billion KGS. This is almost 100 billion more than in 2024. Small businesses – shops, workshops, service and trade companies – accounted for the bulk of this growth. Their contribution grew particularly significantly — to 159.7 billion KGS (+59.5 billion per year).

Individual entrepreneurs also showed significant growth, earning almost 119 billion KGS (+28.2 billion). Farms produced 20.4 billion KGS of gross value added.

The share of gross value added in GDP:

  • small enterprises — 22.5%;
  • medium-sized enterprises — 5.1%;
  • farms — 2.9%;
  • individual entrepreneurs — 16.8%.

In fact, half of all the money earned by the Kyrgyz economy is generated by small and medium-sized businesses.
