Kyrgyzstan and Georgia have agreed to develop joint climate projects

Kyrgyzstan and Georgia have agreed to expand cooperation in the areas of climate finance, ‘green’ investment and biodiversity conservation. The parties also intend to develop joint initiatives and maintain a regular dialogue on climate policy issues.

The Kyrgyz side presented its work on attracting international climate finance and building a national portfolio of climate projects. In particular, the discussion focused on exchanging experience on attracting ‘green’ investments and implementing projects with the support of international financial institutions.

Separately, the parties discussed biodiversity conservation and the development of specially protected natural areas. Kyrgyzstan is interested in Georgia’s experience in this field.

The parties agreed to continue their cooperation and to prepare new joint projects.
