Kyrgyzstan and the UAE have begun mutual exchange of driver's licenses without exams

Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates have begun mutual exchange of driver's licenses without exams. An agreement signed between the two countries in April this year came into force on May 14.

Now, citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who are legally residing in the UAE can replace their driver's licenses with local ones without taking a theory or practical test. The same opportunity is now available to UAE citizens in Kyrgyzstan.

The procedure is simplified but requires a standard set of documents. Kyrgyz citizens will need a passport, a residence permit in the Emirates, a national driver's license, and a medical certificate. UAE citizens exchanging their licenses in Kyrgyzstan must present a similar set of documents, including a medical certificate form U-083.

It is emphasized that national ID cards will not be confiscated — the originals will remain with the owners. This is important for those who plan to return or drive a car in another country.

The agreement aims to simplify the movement of citizens, develop cooperation in the field of transport, and strengthen trust between the structures of the two states. For more details, please contact the consular offices of Kyrgyzstan and the UAE.
