Kyrgyzstan and Russia are stepping up industrial and investment cooperation

Daniyar Amangeldiev spoke at the ‘Russia–Kyrgyzstan’ business dialogue, held as part of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum in St Petersburg on 3 June 2026.

He noted that Kyrgyzstan’s participation in the SPIEF had become an important platform for promoting economic partnership and attracting investment, and that the forum itself was one of the key international instruments for developing business ties.

According to Amangeldiev, cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia extends beyond trade and is gradually shifting towards industrial cooperation, localisation of production and the implementation of joint investment projects.

He emphasised that Kyrgyzstan’s economy continues to show steady growth, with priorities remaining the development of industry, construction, the service sector, the digital economy and transport infrastructure.

Particular emphasis was placed on the energy sector. Kyrgyzstan continues to develop its hydropower potential, including the Kambarat-1 HPP project, as well as the construction of small and medium-sized hydropower stations and renewable energy facilities.

Joint projects with Russia in the energy and logistics sectors were also outlined, including the ‘Kokcho Koz’ trade and logistics centre, as well as initiatives to build solar and wind power stations in the Issyk-Kul region and an aerated concrete plant in the Batken region.

Among the strategic priorities, the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project was highlighted, which is expected to strengthen the region’s transport connectivity and create new opportunities for industrial and logistics development.
Kyrgyzstan is also interested in expanding cooperation in the fields of tourism, digitalisation, e-commerce and fintech, including projects within the framework of the EAEU.

In conclusion, he reaffirmed the country’s readiness to expand investment cooperation and establish long-term partnerships.
