09/21/2026, 09:07Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and the Processing Industry, met with Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, in St Petersburg.
The meeting took place as part of the 11th International Fisheries Forum. The parties discussed cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia in the agri-industrial sector.
In 2025, mutual trade in agricultural and processed products between the two countries totalled $652.3 million. This is $88.5 million more than the previous year.
The parties noted the need to move from trade to joint production. In particular, they discussed the establishment of processing plants, the development of logistics and warehousing infrastructure, and the production of packaging in accordance with international standards.
Akunbekov proposed developing new bilateral projects in the fisheries sector and the processing of agricultural produce, as well as increasing the volume of Kyrgyz products supplied to the Russian market.
Patrushev stated that the Russian side was ready to implement the proposed initiatives in practice.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to draw up joint roadmaps for projects in the fisheries sector.
The 11th International Fisheries Forum took place in St Petersburg from 16 to 18 September. The forum included the Seafood Expo Russia 2026 exhibition, featuring national pavilions from India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
Kyrgyzstan was represented at the exhibition by fish product manufacturers. Akunbekov visited the exhibition to support domestic entrepreneurs in finding partners, exchanging experience and promoting products for export.
