Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan intend to increase trade turnover to $500 million

In Dushanbe, within the framework of his working visit, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev held a meeting in a narrow format with Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Adylbek Kasymaliev stressed the priority of developing good neighbourly relations with Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan, within the framework of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy. He conveyed warm greetings from President Sadyr Zhaparov to President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan.

In the course of constructive dialogue, the parties discussed in detail a wide range of topical issues of bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to the prospects for the development of trade and economic ties. In particular, they stressed the common goal of increasing trade turnover between the countries to $500 million by 2030.

The Kyrgyz side confirmed its readiness to act as an effective link for supplying Tajik products to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and expressed interest in studying Tajik experience in the processing of agricultural products.
Considerable attention was paid to the successful cooperation in the energy sector, and the importance of the early implementation of the CASA-1000 project was emphasised. The parties noted the need to resume direct air service between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan as an important factor in intensifying bilateral ties.

In conclusion, the interlocutors confirmed their common confidence in further strengthening of mutually beneficial partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and also noted the special importance of cultural and humanitarian co-operation and the need to support the dissemination of common cultural heritage among the younger generation.
