Kyrgyzstan and Japan discussed the launch of direct flights

Kyrgyzstan and Japan discussed expanding tourism cooperation and the possibility of launching direct flights between the two countries.

As part of the Tourism Expo Japan international tourism exhibition, Eduard Kubatov, Director of the State Agency for Tourism Development, met with Yuji Hara and Tadashi Shimura, representatives of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA).

The parties discussed promoting Kyrgyzstan’s tourism potential in the Japanese market, developing business ties between tourism companies in both countries, and increasing mutual tourist flows.

The participants also reviewed the results of previous work, including a memorandum of cooperation in the field of tourism and familiarisation tours for representatives of Japanese travel companies, organised in Kyrgyzstan in 2025–2026.

The parties expressed an interest in increasing the number of familiarisation tours and establishing new partnerships. The issue of launching direct flights between Kyrgyzstan and Japan was discussed separately.

Kyrgyzstan has been participating in the Tourism Expo Japan for five years now. According to the agency, interest in Kyrgyzstan’s national stand from representatives of the Japanese tourism industry and visitors to the exhibition continues to grow.

In addition, the Japanese delegation was invited to the official opening ceremony of the ‘Ala-Too Resort’ ski resort, which is scheduled for 1 December 2026.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in further developing tourism exchanges, expanding partnerships between companies, organising familiarisation tours and promoting Kyrgyzstan’s tourism products on the Japanese market.
