Kyrgyzstan leads the EAEU in terms of growth in industry, construction and trade

In the first half of 2026, Kyrgyzstan recorded the highest growth rates in industrial production, construction and retail trade among the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. This is according to data from the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan rose by 12.7 per cent between January and June. In Armenia, growth stood at 10.8 per cent; in Kazakhstan, 3.5 per cent; and in Russia, 0.4 per cent. In Belarus, the figure fell by 0.7 per cent.

Kyrgyzstan demonstrated the most significant lead in the construction sector. The volume of work completed rose by 65.1 per cent. By way of comparison, growth stood at 20.9 per cent in Armenia, 15.2 per cent in Kazakhstan and 2 per cent in Belarus. In Russia, the volume of construction work fell by 5 per cent.

Kyrgyzstan also led the EAEU in terms of retail trade growth: its turnover increased by 16.3 per cent. In Belarus, the figure rose by 7.6 per cent; in Armenia, by 5.7 per cent; in Russia, by 5.4 per cent; and in Kazakhstan, by 3.8 per cent.

Investment in fixed assets in Kyrgyzstan increased by 25.5 per cent – this is also the highest figure in the union. In Armenia, growth stood at 22 per cent, and in Kazakhstan at 6.4 per cent. In Belarus, investment fell by 2.7 per cent, and in Russia by 14.3 per cent.

Agricultural output in Kyrgyzstan rose by 4.3 per cent. The republic lagged slightly behind Belarus, where growth reached 4.7 per cent, and Kazakhstan, at 4.4 per cent. In Russia, the figure fell by 0.8 per cent, and in Armenia by 10.9 per cent.

Freight turnover in Kyrgyzstan increased by 3.1 per cent, whilst passenger turnover rose by 4.9 per cent. In terms of freight turnover, the republic ranked second in the EAEU after Armenia, where growth stood at 12.1 per cent.

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan also recorded the highest rise in consumer prices within the union. Since December 2025, they have risen by 5.5 per cent. In Kazakhstan, inflation stood at 5.1 per cent; in Russia, 4.2 per cent; in Armenia, 3.2 per cent; and in Belarus, 2.9 per cent.

According to available data for January–March 2026, Kyrgyzstan’s GDP grew by 10.1 per cent – this is also the highest figure among the EAEU member states.
