Kyrgyzstan to suspend potato imports from abroad for six months

The Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers has introduced a temporary ban on potato imports for a period of six months. The measure is aimed at supporting domestic producers and developing the domestic market.

The decree was signed on 15 October 2026. The ban will come into effect three days after the decree comes into force. This was reported in the newspaper ‘Erkin Too’.

The restriction does not apply to potatoes in transit, consignments dispatched to Kyrgyzstan before the decree came into force, or produce intended for scientific research, testing and other special purposes.
