Kyrgyzstan has turned out to be the worst country in a global ranking of peace and security for women

According to the 2023 Global Peace and Security Index for Women published by the Georgetown Institute, Kyrgyzstan scored 0.673, putting the country in one of the last places among Central Asian states and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The main factors contributing to the low score include high levels of partner violence, low education indicators and high maternal mortality. There is also a low level of access to financial services, for which Kyrgyzstan scored only 43.8 points, compared to neighbouring Kazakhstan's 83.6 points.

Kyrgyzstan ranked lower than Kazakhstan (0.729 points), Tajikistan (0.69 points) and Uzbekistan (0.674 points). The best countries in the region are Armenia (0.772 points), Russia (0.752 points) and Belarus (0.733 points).
