Kyrgyzstan intends to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 18% by 2030

Energy and the green economy are among the country's priority areas of science.
Our country's scientific potential is represented by 82 scientific and scientific-technical organisations, which employ more than 6,500 scientists, including doctors and candidates of science. This was stated by the Prime Minister. Adylbek Kasymaliyev congratulated the citizens of Kyrgyzstan on Science Day.

Currently, scientific research is being conducted in many relevant areas. These include the development of energy until 2035, the state language, sustainable development of mountainous areas, cultivation and processing of medicinal plants, forest restoration, basalt fibre production, implementation of climate change adaptation measures, and others.
State-funded projects include seismic zoning, archaeological research, studying the genetic structure of farm animals, processing mining industry waste, restoring fish stocks in Lake Issyk-Kul, optimisation of the production and resource potential of farms, production of high-voltage porcelain ceramics, and assessment of the water and energy resources of river basins.

Today, the priority areas of science are the history of Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz language, agriculture and biological safety, the green economy, healthcare, climate change, energy, post-industrial development, and digital transformation.

«We used to be an industrial-agricultural country, but industry went through difficult times, and today it is undergoing a process of revival. Digitalisation is also developing at a rapid pace, and we are becoming a shining example to our neighbouring countries. I am confident that you, esteemed scientists, will make a significant contribution in all these areas. I would like to highlight economic research on import substitution, export promotion and the organisation of economic intelligence as particularly important areas of scientific research. At the same time, it is quite likely that the increase in the number of start-ups in the field of applied science, which will be useful to our entrepreneurs, will lead to a constructive dialogue between science and business, accompanied by successful, fruitful and, most importantly, profitable activities», — said Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliyev.
