08/10/2026, 16:13A meeting of the republican task force on preparing the country’s economic sectors and population for the autumn–winter period of 2026/27 was held, chaired by Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The meeting was attended by heads of state and municipal bodies, the President’s authorised representatives in the regions, as well as heads of relevant institutions and enterprises.
During the meeting, a report was presented by the Ministry of Energy on the current hydropower situation in the country and the readiness of the fuel and energy sector for the upcoming heating season.
According to the data presented, electricity consumption in the republic this year is expected to reach 19.6 billion kWh. Of this, 15.5 billion kWh is planned to be generated domestically, whilst the shortfall of 4.1 billion kWh will be covered by imports. It was also noted that the current water level in the Toktogul Reservoir is lower than that recorded during the same period last year.
In this regard, the meeting participants emphasised the need for strict adherence to the established limits on domestic electricity consumption and the rational use of water resources. A task was also set to ensure the timely completion of repair work on the generating units at hydroelectric power stations and the combined heat and power plant in accordance with the approved schedules.
Particular attention was paid to fuel supply. For the 2026/27 heating season, the republic’s total requirement stands at 45,500 tonnes of fuel oil and 3,408,500 tonnes of coal.
It was noted that the required volumes of fuel are being delivered to storage facilities in accordance with the approved schedules. At the same time, tender procedures are being conducted and the relevant contracts are being concluded.
With regard to the republic’s natural gas supply, it was reported that work on gasification, as well as design and survey activities, is continuing in 2026.
During the meeting, issues were also discussed regarding the readiness of heat supply enterprises in the cities of Bishkek and Osh, as well as municipal heat supply enterprises in the regions, for the heating season, and the provision of the necessary types of fuel to budgetary institutions and their preparations for the winter period. The relevant officials briefed the members of the task force on the current status of preparations in the respective areas.
Following the meeting, Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, emphasised the personal responsibility of ministers, the President’s authorised representatives in the regions, mayors, akims, heads of municipal enterprises and energy companies for ensuring timely and high-quality preparations for the upcoming heating season, as well as for ensuring its smooth running.
A number of formal instructions were issued to the heads of the relevant state bodies and organisations. These include ensuring the timely and high-quality completion of repair and reconstruction works, ensuring that energy facilities are ready to operate at maximum capacity during the autumn-winter period, and ensuring that energy enterprises are supplied with the necessary volumes of coal in a timely manner.
According to the approved timetable, all work to prepare the country’s economic sectors and population for the autumn-winter period must be fully completed by October of this year.
