The EEC has proposed that Kyrgyzstan strengthen cooperation on labor migration

Kyrgyzstan can draw on the experience of the Eurasian Economic Union to improve mechanisms for labor migration, social security, and pension benefits for workers. This was stated by Bakhyt Sultanov, a member of the Board (Minister) for Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission representing Kazakhstan, at the SPECA forum in Bishkek.

According to him, the EAEU operates a single labor market, thanks to which citizens of member states can work in other countries of the union without obtaining a work permit or license.

Workers are also provided with social insurance benefits—including health insurance—on an equal footing with citizens of the host country. In addition, a pension agreement is in effect that allows for the recognition of work experience gained in different member states of the union.

Sultanov noted that the EEC continues to improve conditions for labor mobility and mechanisms for protecting workers’ rights.

“Our main task is to make the employment process more understandable and convenient for everyone,” he emphasized.

For Kyrgyzstan, this issue is of practical importance given the country’s membership in the EAEU and the labor migration of Kyrgyz citizens to other member states of the union.

The minister added that the commission is ready to develop cooperation with Central Asian countries through expert consultations, the exchange of analytical materials, and joint events.
